    Default Barren River Lake 9/26

Tomorrow I'm gonna go give barren a try. I haven't been out Hunting down the crappie there in about 3 weeks. Last time out I caught 28 keepers and kept about 12-14 that were on average 11-12 inches so had a good morning. Anyone been out since the temp has started cooling? I was curious what the water temp is and if you don't mind sharing have they started funneling back into the creeks yet or are you still having better luck on the main lake? TIA for any info.

I went out Monday and Wednesday and the water temps were pretty consistent at 73 the 3 places I hit. They moved back, but not very far. Monday's catch was 16 keepers and Wednesday's was 12, all over 10". They're starting to look like fall fatties. Found them near timber in 20 fow, 10' down. Good luck!

Well I got out to barren a day or so later lol. I found several fish but struggled early for decent keepers. Overall we caught 51 crappie and ended up putting a few in the boat for a little fry we were having. I think we kept 24 fish that were good eaters. I found alot of the better ones in water depths 25-30 ft but were staged in 15-16 ft. I did catch several keepers along the mouths of a couple of creeks in 20ish ft staging around 10-12. Thanks for the temps they were spot on. A couple of baits that I had the best luck on 1.5 inch hustler in KY lake killer color and just a white 2 inch tube. Good luck to all out there.

Going out again Saturday Morning myself and will report back what I find. Are you guys fishing the northern part of the lake or Southern. I generally fish from Peter creek to walnut. Not real familiar with the rest of the lake right now

Well I got out yesterday but only had about 3 hours to fish. I fished 3 different bridges and caught 11 keepers total 19 fish. I didn't keep any as I wouldn't have had time to clean them but I needed to get out. I was gonna try a few other places but there were 3 boats that always beat me to the punch on the other places I knew. ALL the fish I caught were on a white/chartreuse joker. 10-12 ft. The water depths varied from 15-22 ft but all the crappie I saw were from 12-8 ft deep. Wind was rough but the bite was not bad. I'm gonna give it a go again on Friday before I head to guide on the disabled hunt at Bermhiem forest this weekend
