    Default The Amazeing Thump/Conway 9-30-14

There are many great ways to catch crappie but for me the most personal way is vertical jigging. As I launched my boat for an evening of fishing I thought where could they be. The answer for me was no where in particular and it become a thing called Power Fishing cover as much cover as I could in the allotted time of fishing. When favorite holes are not producing I often go on a Power Fishing trip across Lake Conway it has paid off many times before and today was no different. I don't know how many trees I fished today but I know it was allot. And just every now and then I felt the best feeling a vertical Jigger can ask for...A ThRHUMP. You always know a Good Fish within just a few seconds of hooking him. From the time of the strike until you get him in the net, for me it is the most personal way to catch a beautiful slab. Just one man, just one pole, just one bait on the water with a pole raised high...bent over, the splash of a slab as it hits the surface. A Norman Rockwell moment. Tight Lines...

Verticle jigging is the only way for me ! Without the thump Crappie fishing is not much. . Been moving around alot up here too. Usually catch well over 50 a day but big bites are tough to find sometimes.
Sometimes when normal areas or depths don't work try something new. Nothing like the great fall days on the water. Looks like it worked on Conway. Can't wait for water temps to drop another 10 degrees and fish get in fall mode. Good catch.

Very nice Russ. I have to agree. I love to feel that fish hit the bait. I'd rather jig fish than anything else. If I lived that close to Conway I'd be jigging trees to!

Looking forward to seeing you at Nimrod on the 11th. I'm ready to get over there and drown some minners!!

Once again you have caught some nice crappie. Excellent job. Nothing better than the thump. It is addicting.

    You can say that again.

Ain't no doubt what the most fun fishing is.

Midsouth trimmed tube, with 1/16th black and red eye on a Chart head tipped with nibble. Jig head is made locally you can buy the at Danos bait shop on Gold Creek or the Farmers Co Op in Conway. One tuff Jig head with a paint that last and eyes painted uniformly.
