Woke up with every intention of going back to Bistineau but didn't feel like driving that far so I ended up at the river. Caught a few right off the bat in a shallow bayou. The overhanging trees seemed to do better than the submerged lay downs. When the sun came up that bite was over and I ended up in the main river channel. Found them 6-10' deep in 13-20 fow. All on bubblegum chartreuse and a couple on blue thunder. Couple of things... they were all on the up stream side of the structure also on lay downs they were on the tree trunks not branches. Log jams and posts/pillings were good also.

Those big bream were out deep too. Thought that was kind of weird. Threw lots of small ones back.

Great catch and excellent post. Thanks for sharing.

I missed my chance to go today. Couldn't make myself get up this morning knowing I had to start work tonight.

How bad was the current in the river? I haven't had any luck in the river with the current being on the swift side.

Current was not bad. I was using a 1/16th jig with no issues.

Also, tried Deloutre for a little while. It was the only place I didn't catch a fish. Figured some of those tops/stumps in the deeper water in there would have been good, but I guess not.
