Default Need some help for my HB 597

I got a HB 999 and installed it up front on the TM and I moved the 597 that was on the TM to the back. At the lake yesterday it is reading depth way off...I know Blackshear (max depth is 40ft or so) isnt 98 ft deep or deeper...unit worked fine on mounted on TM. Anybody have any suggestions on way its reading to deep? I tried adjusting the depth range and even factory reset it but no deal..scratching my head on this one.

Pics of depth read out...and transducer mount...
    Thanks.

Try a Restore Defaults...again...to get back to a baseline of settings...

    If that doesn't work ...

*Check that the "Lower Range" menu under the express menu is set to Auto ...
*Check that the "Transducer Select" menu under the Sonar tab is still set to DI/200/455 ...
*Check that the "Digital Depth Source" menu under the Sonar tab is set to "Auto"...

    Is the DI working correctly...??

Is the depth 94.7 changing at all or is it steady at 94.7...??

Thanks I try those...the depth goes from 94 to 500+ to 1200ft at times and the 2D/DI both do it...the only thing working right is the gps/chartplotter.

Below was what Humminbird told me to set on my 798CI HD SI when the depths were going crazy, might be worth a try, worst case it does not help.

We would recommend the following settings.

    Under the Setup menu tab:

    User Mode: Advance

    Under the Sonar menu tab:

    Surface Clutter: 7
Maximum Depth: 10ft more than the maximum depth you would usually use the unit in
    Water Type: Salt Deep

(I'm not sure what version that was added...or if was added to the smaller DI units as in the larger DI units)...

Forcing this "Digital Depth Source" menu to use the 2d piezo or the DI piezo (instead of default Auto)... may tell us if one or the other piezoes in the xducer may be faulty...

If you know of anyone else that has a Humminbird DI model unit; you can cross-test your 597ci HD DI model unit with them. This will show if the problem is in the unit or the transducer.

I am thinking it is the settings, played around with it in the yard a bit and it was trying to read near correct as it can out of the water. My fishing partner has a 597 so I will try that on his boat...
