Nice jigs but you might have trouble hooking with those really long materials

I have a friend/co-worker that ties large jigs for catching cobia in the gulf. I asked him to tie me some crappie jigs the other day and he did just that. Although tying this small is much more difficult and tedious than a big cobia jig, I think he did a great job. What do you guys think?

Thats kinda what we were thinking too. Gonna give them a try before we start cutting them off.
HE did a good job. They look nice to me.

They look pretty good, but my question is about the spinner blade, does it still turn free with all the pain on that swivel? Also on the tail length, I think as long as the crappie are eating it will not be a problem, but I would have tied them a tiny bit shorter on a couple of them is all. I like long tails myself! I never cut a feather tail after it's tied though! Actually the only kind I would consider cutting is a synthetic tail.
Thanks Skip. The blade does spin freely. I was thinking you were the one that had said in other posts not to cut the tail which is what made me feel hesitant to cut them.

Yes and my way of thinking is the tail needs to be cut to length before it's tied, even hair tails. Also I have caught too many crappie using long tails to worry much about that, but if that was bream I would be much more concerned. I know a guid on Toledo Bend here that ties his own and uses Craft Fur and uses it full length, which is pretty darn long! He does well too and I tried one of his favorite colors (Black Frost) and that jigs will sure catch crappie even with very long tail.
Look pretty good!
