    Default Secret Crappie pond!

    …not really but this is the first crappie I've caught since joining the site. Caught in the lake at the Isola Bella apartments in OKC. Laugh at me all you want but I've been bass fishing for the most part lately so I've only had two chances to catch crappie. First was an aggressive guy who hit a Texas rigged worm and I ripped the hook out of his mouth cause I thought he was a bass. Caught this guy on a knock off Mepps Aglia spinner from bass pro shops in a rainbow trout pattern. Also caught a bass and a mudcat on it. Pics attached.

    Thanks for the replies every one. Gonna start targeting crappie more once it cools down and some of them move under the heated dock at Lake Arcadia. Until then might as well enjoy the bass fishing, am I right?

    You are right in that those green carp can be crappie predators so they need to be eradicated. I think they make good garden fertilizer- high nitrogen.(-;

    Somehow I think actual garden fertilizer may be the main component of our lakes in Oklahoma City. That and a little bit of water.
