Thread: Chickamauga Lake 9-7-2014 Tight Line Crappie

The crappie are still scattered but we found a few. Archie and I blasted off around sunrise. The crappie were happy, happy first thing in the morning but slowed down as the day wore on.

It has been a long time since I have single pole fished and the hi vis line jump and swim sideways. The line was flat out hopping first thing this am. "Live for the thump!". For about 20 minutes we caught a fish on every other cast. We caught 33 with 12 keepers. Including a bunch of 9-1/2" crappie..

Depending on where we fished the water temp. was 80* to 83*. I had the best luck using BG Baby Shad Electric Chicken. Archie did his best using BG BS Opening Night with a tail light. We used 1/32 oz. and 1/16 oz. jigs. Most of the crappie came out of deep water (35') down about 8' to about 15' fow.
