Set out Tuesday for a bit of fish catching at Somerville and was pleasantly surprised with 6 keeper crappie, 6 nice cats, 2 gasper goo's and a really nice big gar. Biggest crappie was 13.5 inches and weighed 1.34 lbs. Nice slab. Rest were bigger than 11 inches each. Fish were holding 8-12 ft down in 15-20 fow hitting jigs, crankbaits and Kastmaster lures. Biggest cat was 17" caught on shad. Nice to have electronics and a map of the creek channels. Water temp was 89-91 degrees. Fished from 7 pm to 1 am the next morning.

Planning on taking the kayaks there in a few weeks!
Deborah and I went to Somerville yesterday for a Sunday drive and checked out all of the parks. Think Texas Parks and Wildlife had better parks. Hope to make it out there soon. Probably Oct though..

Let me know if you need any help in finding spots out there when you go. I am always a stones throw away and ready to go.
USAF Retired and fishing!
I fished that lake many days for the seven years I lived, worked, and went to school. Back then, lot's of white bass there, also pretty much isolated - no lake homes, etc. I'm sure it's changed a lot since I've seen that water. Taught my son how to swim there at the age of 5 - he turns 34 at the end of the month.

Hello all. I am new here and from Somerville. If you dont mind me being nosey and asking, whats the "gray ghost?"
Also, would you happen to know of any jig makers around here?
