    Default Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm for most things tends to diminish over time.
    i

This seems to happen with most things folks engage in, from
an exercise program to their marriage. Behaviorists suggest
this is predictable and often reversible.

At least six stages seem to exist with regard to enthusiasm.

    1. Search

    2. Excitement

    3. Realization

    4. Disillusionment

    5. Justification

    6. Resignation

Do you feel this applies to Sac A Lait fishing/catching?

Is it possible to recognize these stages
    and work to reverse them?

Not yet, I'm still in the 1, 2, 3 stage, although it peaks and ebbs with the seasons. Right now I'm at a low point. Too hot and too much work to get done before fall.

Caught my first fish at 5 years old. I'm 58 now and I still love it. The only thing that distracts me is hunting.

Stage 6. I'm resigned to the fact that my sac limit is one and I am happy about it.

No I don't think this applies to fishing at all. Any kind. If you love to do it, you've already committed yourself to live with the "ebbs" as Gene put it. The fever will come and go as often as the moon depending on season, weather, other things in life (random things where that enthusiasm cycle does apply) But if you're a true fisherman its always there. As soon as you hear they're biting, or the weather cooperates, or you buy a new pack of jigs and cant wait to use them, there it is again despite the fact you've put it down for a few days, weeks, or months. And....Getting on here and seeing pictures of full ice chests kinda keeps that "ebb" from happening.
