Default Frabill EZ Check R ???????

This is probably an old question, but has anyone noticed that this device is not accurate. Been using it for years and noticed the other day cleaning fish that it seemed 1/16th off. We always keep fish over nine, but I know many keep them if they "touch the line." I noticed this because the fish we thought were over 9 were right at 9 which is the limit for Green.

Seems like the device has added the plastic at the bottom where the fish's nose goes as part of the measurement.

I may be just crazy, but measured it with a tape measure and it was off. I have two and they are both the same way so I don't think it is just a defect with one. Would not have noticed it if my table didn't have a measure on it.

Not trying to stir up trouble, just making folks aware so they don't get a ticket!!!!

    thoughts?

Cant measure MS fish with them. Fish are too wide and wont go all the way down in them.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

That's for sure 11 in fish here wont near get the nose to the bottom and will measure 12 inches. The bigger pink one is pretty good I think, we just use a Golden Rule.

YEAH, BUT .... you best check your Golden Rule for accuracy, too. I've checked mine, and found the 9" & 10" marks to be a little short .. but the 11" and longer marks to be dead on. Knowing that, I never keep a fish that doesn't measure a good 9.5" or better, even when the size limit is only 9".
And just for clarification ... I put my own 9" mark on the Golden Rule (years ago), measured backwards from the 10" mark, since the one I have only came with 10"-15" marks. I've had the ruler for decades, and since finding out about the discrepancy in the length markings, I've put a broad mark (Sharpie pen) across it at the 9" & 10" lines. That way I know that the fish's tail needs to extend beyond the black stripe, and not just the measurement line.

Make sure you measure from the inside like you would the fish. The outside of the device is dead on from tip to tip, the problem is the inside where you measure the fish. The plastic border of the nose has been added to the measurement which takes up about a 1/16th before you put a fish in.
