Not sure what lakes you fish down their but I would rec. either Hotmaps Platinum or Nav + with SonarCharts for the 859 follow this link to the Navionics website to preview the lakes you like Navionics WebApp - Product Catalog make sure you click on the sonar icon on the lower left for the SonarCharts view. Remember also you can log sonar and improve any body of water

Ky Lake is the only body of water I can make a serious comparison but between the two, the LakeMaster V2 is light years ahead of the Navionics Premium on KY Lake. I have both in my 898 but the features of the LakeMaster make it much better IMO.

If you buy a navionics buy the Platinum, more detail and more features than the Premium. IMO the Premium is just a step above the base maps. BBG Marine did have them on sale, I don't know if they still do

Many of the HB units like my 898 will not run the Platinum.

Processor to slow? It looks to me that Lakemaster (Johnson) are shooting themselves in the foot by keeping their mapping proprietary to Humminbirds. Believe me, everyone else (consumers) would benefit if Navionics had some serious competition.

    mrdux,
You may want to check with the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks about that. As far as I know the 898 units have always been Navionics Platinum and Platinum+ capable. The 899ci HD Si units were not to begin with but that was changed with upgrading the software.

Kosmo you won't be disappointed, I just bought the Lakemaster for Ky and Barkley. Couple of things I really like is the water level offset and the shallow depth highlight especially for Barkley.
