Thanks a ton for taking the time to share this. I'm gonna get in trouble withe my boss (wife) for bringing more jig supplies into the shop (my family room).
Your welcome and I have sold enough of these in the last 10 years that I just thought I would share it with you guys so you could make your own. However making these is not without danger from the fumes and just be careful. I started this tying for something to do back then and then the crazy set in and now have a huge amount of tying materials. Heck I even have a lot of Glow Powder and some in colors I don't do any more. Just kept tying some other colors and they kept disappointing me with how fast their glow would die off. It always brings me back to what I wanted in the beginning which was the brightest Glow Jigs made! I didn't know how tough they would be too until I finally zoned in on what materials to use.

Took this photo in total dark room after painting head per Skip's instruction. Wow that stuff is bright. And I don't think I had anywhere near 18% glow powder in the paint either. Can't wait to start the body. We've been using Midsouth Tackle glow skirts for couple years now. Excited about making my own glow jig. Thanks Skip for sharing.

Your welcome and the body will be even brighter because there is more of the Glow Powder in the Softex and the clear coat over that is just to make it smooth and not rough plus fill in a few little places you may want completely covered in the stuff!
Your also gonna find the glow skirts are really weak compared to this.
Enjoy!

Skip,
Anything out there to make glow skirts, or can you buy glow material for them? I use bucktails mostly, wondering if you could get the skirt plastic in strips or tube shapes?
No bitchin just fishin
Not sure about skirts, but soft plastics can be done with this same glow powder. So I think most anything someone can make like that could be done! For the skirts you would need to have the material clear and be able to put in the powder when it's made. I don't see a good way to add it to a skirt.
As for other things you can do is to add UV to your materials either buying them already with UV or adding it your self. I have a sample of UV color Bucktail right here in front of me that some supplier sent. Now this we can see what it does without a black light or a UV light, but some fish can see UV color and it adds a ton of viewing distance. That just extends how far away a fish can see the bait and from there it depends on if that fish is in a eating mood and I feel the same way about glow jigs, the fish still needs to be in an eating mood or curious enough to bite just to see what it is. Of course this is just my opinion.

the super glow-in-the-dark powder works really well in plastics I only use the green or white because it's more effective in brighter than all the other colors.
