    New to the area and was woundering if anyone ever fish for crappie at bixhoma lake?

    I fished it once and didn't have any real luck. The 5 fish limit keeps me from going back. clear water and deep for such a small lake

    unfortunately Bixhoma is the only place I would consider "close" to Bixby. Next would probably be the Navigation Channel/ Verdigris River but that's a drive either way you go. If you're just fishing for fun don't discard Bixhoma. I know there are huge fish in there.

    Isn't there a HP restriction there too or am I mistaken with another lake?

    Used to be electric only. They would let you disconnect fuel line to keep you honest. Don't know about these days though

    In the last few years the crappie population has taken a huge hit . This is due to the forage base diminishing in the lake this in turn caused the largest bass to prey on crappie . The wildlife department usually stocks shad in the lake yearly but didn't this year because the lake they usually obtain the shad from had a big winter kill. All fish in the lake seem to be on slim side.
