This is exactly the time of year when I find myself wishing I had taken time to sink some trees. We ( wife and I) have fished the fish attractors so many times with no luck that we ignore them anymore. Having some crappie condos might be helpful.

Crewmax42, I have heard the same thing, and only had one
"Bad" experience. Why do you think that is? Are they not basically condos professionally done?
Also, I'm gone to try the bamboo condos here soon.
I have no clue. If I did, and it was something I was doing, I would try to turn it around. In my case, maybe it is a lack of patience.During my bank fishing days ( my big dirt boat), I had a lot of patience and did a lot of still fishing. There was time for the fish to settle down, if my presence spooked them. These days, I pull up in a big old pontoon boat like a scene from " War of the worlds" hovering over the residents below. Maybe I get too close, don't stay long enough, or maybe I have caught my lifetime quota. Anyone's guess.
may I suggest sinking few condos (PVC) and never tell anyone except the very trusted fishing buddy their location, then each time you fish them take a few cans of cheap dog food with a few holes punched in them, and drop them over the condos. The only way this really works is the fewer people that knows about the location the better it works.
bootsmac crappie LIKED above post
I'm gonna let y'all in on my best Summer secret bait: a spoon! I use 1/4 oz Hopkins in silver an a 3/8 oz CC spoon also in silver. I can mark a deep brush pile, cast a jig to it at all levels, get over top of it an jig a Bucktail over it, an think there are no crappie there. break out the spoon an catch a dozen poppin the spoon rite over the brush. I use 8-10 lb mono an a medium action rod. I install a split ring an quality swivel an change to one size larger hook. Try it!
Thanks, fish doc. Sounds like a good technique. I have never really given spoons a chance. Especially if there is a shad die off, this would be a good technique. I am always on the lookout for crappie condos when I am watching my finder ( which is all the time) . It would be instructional to try sinking one and seeing what it looks like in sonar.
Thanks again for all the replies. I'm definitely am going to try condos out before end of summer. With being less mobile in the water I can cover I probably need them more than most. I will try the spoon. I have been wearing out white perch schools with them around dark.
Sounds like a plan. I have read some of the guys are security conscious when they are delivering and installing their condos to reduce the potential prying eyes. Also, no one has a definitive answer ( that I have seen) if they are entirely legal. Might be better to do them during hunting season.
