Sorry I missed this question earlier, I usually fish on the edge of a creek and most are dropping off to more than 30'. Some just 31 and some more. I don't usually drop my light more than a foot or a little more under water.

also important note: for keeping bugs and skeeters away get a ThermaCell! It may just keep them on the edge of your boat on a bad night, but at least they are not in the boat with you. Sometimes we use 2, one at each end next to us.

also the light I use you wouldn't want to take a picture of when on, it's way too bright to look at. I tried it next to a light that had 960 LED's and this light just blew that one away. It only has 36 LED's, but they are Cree which means the best and brightest LED lights in the world!

Do you seal the holes where the wires go through the PVC with silicone, to keep water from getting inside?

Back about 1975 I fi9shed Toledo Bend for bass a few times a year. Stayed at Sammy Gill park. One morn I went to the marina to pick up a bait or 2 and a morning twinkie. 2 guys were buying ice. I asked if they already had em this morning and they replied that they crappie fished under lanterns. I asked if they did any good. They said we caught 165. I asked if there was any size to them. They said come out and see what you think. they opened 2 big coolers packed with slab crappie. all 1.5 to 2 pounds. Barely room for ice. They turned me on to a spot where the river came up to 17 feet and had a ledge about 4 ft wide before it came up. They had a houseboat set up really nice . said they sunk "Range Cubes" to attract baitfish. We set up on the ridge about 40 yards away the next night. Only got 48 before my partner froze out. This was a ways up the San Miguel . From then on we always night fished when we went back. would love to do it again.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

If the sane people are all armed the crazy people will get off fewer shots.
