Wasn't fishing that to start with. Started with a 1/8th blk/char buckwheat hand tie. Living up to its history, it was a trash fish magnet. Wasn't long until I figured out a couple things. When fishing with CA, you better be using bigger line than 4lb, which has always been adequate with the fish I usually catch, and #2 you need to listen. Carol told me that when I started to tie on a second buckwheat. The 1/4 oz with the 3" Southern pro walleye tube sure helped with feeling the structure and you can feel your way down through the middle of a brush pile where the bigguns hang out during a hot summer day. When they hammered it, often, it would be plumb down to the gills. Nimrod taught us to cross his eyes with the hook set and suck him out of the brush like he was on an express elevator, before he could wrap you up. If the biggun wasn't home, it was just as easy to feel your way back up through the brush and if you did hang, a couple of shakes and you were free. Beat anything I've ever seen. Got myself an education.

Better put some Southern Pro 2.5'' Walleye tubes in glow colors in your fishing arsenal! I found those out fishing with BRM in Mississippi. You need big 1/4 oz heads on big hooks to verticle jig them. Be perpared to get slammed fishing around hungry Crappie.
