Default Enjoyed the morning of the Forth!

At 5:00 as the white truck pulled up at the house and I was waiting to load my fly fishing gear for a morning of fishing with Kieth (burddawg). Being that nether of us had family plans for the morning we decided to scout out some new trout waters a little closer to home. With only a 1/2 ride we found our self waiting for the gray light of the morning to be able to see our first stop on the river.

As fisherman do, we talked about the world, old days and the morning ahead of us to pass the time. Wasn't long and we were out of the truck tying on our flies. We hit the water and I took going upstream and Kieth downstream. After a hour or so I called Kieth to check on the bite and as my fishing had netted no fish nether had his. We loaded the gear in the truck and headed up river for our second stop. Turned out the same as the first so we hit the road for our last stop as the road ended but the river didn't. Our last stop put us fishing a grade in the mountain river of a 1000 foot drop from the top of the mountain to the valley below. All of this section is not stocked so I was pleased as was Keith of my catch of a small brook trout as the only fish of the day.

The time for our fishing had come to a end. We met up on the river and made our way back to the truck. By this time it was all I could do to stand up and walk and like a great friend Kieth had me to stop and wait as he made the walk to the truck and came back to pick me up. This may not sound like much of a day of fishing to some, but as you start to get long in the tooth you began to understand it isn't the catch that makes the day, but the time fishing with friends. Thanks Keith for a great morning of fishing. I hope everyone enjoyed their Independence Day.

bout like John -- a dip in that creek would been nice but the both of us in the same creek
probably make all the fish sick and never bite again.

    nice write up Stumpy

We all like catching, but every once in a while a trip like the one you described allows one to look at all the splendor laid before them. I'm glad you two guys had the chance to get out and enjoy each others company while pitching flies.

Good report Ronnie. Sounds like a great way to spend the 4th, fish or no fish. Just being "out there" is worth the ride.

Ronnie, I too enjoyed our scouting trip and the scenery we encountered. I couldn't help but think how anyone could view what we saw and not be humbled and reminded just how small we are. I also thought of this verse, Ezekiel 43:2 "And behold the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with His glory." It also reminded me of Thoreau's quote...it wasn't the fish we were after. This day it was more about sowing than reaping..............
