Got two shots, not sure what they were for but said something about pain/ nausea . We used to run beagles yr. round and they got bitten fairly often . we fed them a pint jar of bacon grease and wished them well . To be a little guy he has had skirmishes with opossums, coons, snakes and a German Shepard. Would be safer in the house but it would kill him not to be outdoors running free when anyone goes out . Rather him have a good 3 yrs. than a caged ten . JMO

Had a lab get bit once during early duck season by a cottonmouth. His entire head swole up, eyes swole shut, I took him to the vet and the Dr gave him a shot (I don't know what it was but it wasn't anti-venom more like an antihistamine) when he needed to go outside he would walk with the wall on his shoulder for feel to the door because he couldn't see. About three days later he was fine.

One of those shots might have been an antibiotic. I've been to the vet several times with snake bit labs and beagles, and was always told that their filthy mouths pose more of a threat than their venom when it comes to canines. I hope Frodo gets feeling better soon.

I had a yellow Tom cat years ago that got bit a couple of times. His hair would fall out in a 4 inch circle and you could see the fang marks. He survived both bites. He didn't survive me after he scratched my 3 yr old daughter though.

Kinda like the little boy I saw a little while ago, he told me as he came across the yard with his dog following him, "That's Trixsy, her bites". My response was "Not no more ifn her bites me". They went back the way they came from.
