    Default Sout Central OK help!

Looks like I'm going to be relocating to Love or Carter County in the near future and could sure use some help with where to catch some crappie!

I've had moderate success on Murray and plan to fish Texoma but, never have to date. I did fish the Hugo tourney this past May. Other than that, I don't have a clue!

Anyone know anything about Arbuckle? Neustat? Others?

I do have an 18' deep vee crappie boat with state of the art electronics and don't mind hauling it a bit to find some hot spots.

Would like to find some others with Crappieitis, like myself, to share some trips with. And I realize most of you guys are mostly located in the NE part of the state. Just wanted to see if there might be any others around my new home?

Good morning, Bob. I didn't get a chance to answer in our TFF PM conversation but think you will find lots of potential Crappie spots in South Central Okla. You may not get much help on here tho' because none of the active forum members seem to be from that part of the state. I guess we will just have to recruit some of the local Crappie fisherman to CDC Oklahoma.

I have fished Arbuckle without much success but I'm certain that is just because I'm not schooled in deep water Crappie fishing. The Crappie are there. I need to get with Redge on 10killer and find out how he catches them at 25-35 feet deep. I've never fished Murray but after hearing you talk about it I now have a trip planned there sometime in November. The Smallmouth will be a bonus for me. I don't know anything about Neustadt or Healdton lakes. I have heard Waurika was a pretty good Crappie fishery but it's been severely impacted by the drought. The Duncan city lakes are all supposed to have pretty good Crappie but I haven't personally fished them. Sardis, Atoka, McGee Creek and Hugo are getting a little far away from South Central Okla but they all hold good Crappie. I haven't fished Atoka or McGee Creek because of Mercury concerns but Sardis is a favorite and Pine Creek used to be. They are just a long way from OKC so I don't get there much. You will find plenty of Crappie in southern Okla. Texoma is a great Crappie fishery but is overshadowed by the Stripers.

I'm looking forward to getting to visit with you again. We are planning a series of mini-camps at different lakes just to get to visit with other CDC Oklahoma members and try out some new water. Dave will probably post on that soon. Good luck with your real estate transactions.

Hi Bob, Floyd pretty well covered it! And Dave will probably be posting information about our mini camps soon. I would just add that there was a TV program about Texoma crappie fishing that aired last year. It was a Southwest Outdoors Report on Fox sports and hosted by Barry Stokes. I'm sure the episode is on you tube. I've fished Murray and caught smallmouth but not crappie.

I hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person soon! Good luck on your relocation!
