Gewber report
A few days back I decided I was going fishing friday eve. As the evening got close the rain started and it was kinda off and on but I didnt let that sway me. It had been weeks since I had gotten my line wet. I live in Danville and every time I crossed the Piedmont bridge I would eye the eddy pool at the hydro-electric dam. Lately they have been doing some construction just upstream so I wasnt very hopeful but it was still fishing. Water was stained to dark. I rigged a 1/16 chartreuse jig under a rattle bobber starting at 3 ft and went to about 10 before the bobber went sideways. I worked the sides with overhanging brush with a little gewber worm on the jig and dropped it in the 10 foot hole towards the center of the eddies. Lots of tiny nibbles pretty much everywhere which I am sure were just bait stealers too small to even get the hook. On the edge of the hole I got a good bite and set on what turned out to be a dink bass. Sorry nothing definitive for crappie. At one point nibbles stopped and when I reeled in, no more gewber. I only fished for about an hour and used 3 small pieces of gewber. I also ripped a yellow/green arkie through the hole a few times with nothing to show for it.
My initial impression is it works as an attractant though it seems to melt faster than other commercial products. It also seems to get very soft once soaked making it easier to tear off the hook. Maybe a mesh to give it a bit more structure will make it last longer? Overall, I like it. Please Suh, can I have some more?
Monday I will try a creek closer to kerr. The rest of the sample will be used on a kerr nightstalk mid july.

Just got back from Hyco. Set out 2 rods with duplicate setups, one with Gewbers. I don't think the no Gewber rod ever got touched. On the Gewber pulled in 2 tiny gills and one nice sized panfish that slipped the hook right before landing. Gewbers also brought this one in. Almost 2 lbs. I hope I can find the crappie at Kerr.
