    Default Chickamauga Lake... 6-19-14

A crappie fishing trip from 10:00 am until 2:30 Thursday. Air temperature "hot" - water temperature "warm". We found a couple of good areas with mayflies on top and baitfish below. A good combo. We were bottom bouncing jigs and minnows in 18-24 feet of water and sometimes casting. We had to move from our best spot when some bank fishermen showed up on the same point. We had some good action toward the end of our trip when some storms got close and the crappie seemed to really turn on. Totals...24 black crappie...2 white crappie...5 small drum...4 channel cats... 3 yellow bass...2 bream. Almost every crappie was keeper size until our last few. I would guess right at 20 and they were almost all identical in size but nothing large. Debbie caught the best crappie. It would have been a good trip to keep some as they were great eating size but we let them all go. I've still got quite a few in the freezer.

    Congrats on a good day.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Nice catch. The chick seems to be producing fairly well right now.
