    Default Recall

Got a letter last Sat. from Remington concerning a recall on the mod 700 XMP there seems to be prob with the trigger assy that may cause it to fire accidentally I bought a 243 2 years ago, well I called them and gave my ser. no. and mine is the one they are sending all the necessary boxes to ship it to the factory. So if anyone has one better check it out.

Good info Mr. Jim!A friend of mine had a new 300 Weatherby that he wanted to sight in. We had bore sighted it and took it to his farm to see what it would do.We sighted it at 25yds. and at 200 it was a little high. After several rounds we had it where he wanted it so we moved the target out to 300 yds. I was down range and way off to the side.He was laying prone and shooting off 2 sandbags. When he went to chamber a round all of a sudden the gun went off just as he locked down the bolt.Don't know where the round went but at least Thank God it missed me!The sear catch that cocks and holds the firing pin in the bolt had broke off and when he slammed it shut it fired. He got a letter later that his gun was part of a recall and had it repaired.Seems that no matter the quality of a firearm, mechanical failure can happen and luckily in this case no one was hurt!

Yep some day that gun will belong to one of my grandsons and I don't want something to go wrong down the road.

Glad you weren't hit but I bet you won't be down range on a hot range again.

The best way to fix a Remington trigger problem is to buy a Browning
