Rickie, does switch fire max ,completely overide the surface clutter setting ?
When single poling 12' deep in 20fow, will 12 Touch DI, 7"chrip DI or HB 360 show you fish around the tree you are fishing?
The dedicated di will show fish the best.(im just guessing here, but from what ive read , I don't believe that churp would make any difference in 20 ft. of water)
I just thought about your question,(and by the way, that is a good question).I think that it depends,if your moving, then I would have to say the dedicated di would perform best because of the beam being pointed straight down.while what would happen with the 360, would be that its at an angle. Now if your not moving, then the 360 would perform better because it would be constantly giving an updated view of the fish and there movements and the di would be showing a really blurry looking picture
I am looking at buying a new boat(Ranger Z520c) and trying to determine what electronics would be best for crappie fishing. About 50% single poling in trees(Stopped) and spider rigging. I was considering a 12Touch on front and a 9T on console. I have read so much that I am now confused! Lowrance? Humminbird? Garmin?

It's my understanding that Switchfire shuts down all filters including surface clutter.
Why wouldn't Chirp help in any depth water? It will have more returns and the ability to process faster. Chirp is the only way to get very deep water returns, but why wouldn't returns work in 20 foot. It actually should show a more detailed separation. I unfortunately can't swing a Chirp in my budget. Though I have seen them in action on offshore boats, you can see grouper under rocks. They impress me. Not enough to spend for crappie or bass fishing.
