    Default Houston River 6/1

Picked up 30 today. Threw back way more than I kept. 2ft to 5ft deep in 12 to 16 fow. I thought it was going to be muddy so I only bought a few dozen shiners and ran out. Left them biting.

Thanks. Yes its a beautiful river. It doesn't have any agriculture run off so it stays clear. It is up 2 to 3 ft. The Calcasieu and West Fork are backing up into it. River fishing is new to me and I am figuring it out. I fished laydowns on the inside of bends with less current today. On those laydowns with grass I concentrated on ambush points like fishing for bass. Also I caught my first white in 3 years of fishing the river today.

Great job 86, the more you fish the river the better you'll get to know it and knowing it will lead to more fish. Nice looking fish.

It is north of Westlake, La. Its mouth is at Sam Houston State Park.

Looks like a great kayak spot, but too far for me. Nice catch and encouraging for Mermentau prospects after the water goes down.

Perfect for a yak. I see a few on weekends. Yesterday I caught a third of my fish about 300 yards from the launch.
