Trying Lake Conway this weekend
I'm planning to fish Conway for the first time this weekend. Any suggestions on where to go? I was going to launch at Palarm, but will go to other areas if my chances are better. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks CMJ. We gave it a shot, but didn't have any luck. Main issue was finding water, drove around a bit and never could find more than 4-5 feet. The more we drove around, the more stumps we hit and finally gave up.

Lesson learned on the channels. We didn't stray very far at all out of them, but it doesn't take much.
CMJ, with all the stumps we weren't comfortable running the outboard, so we "moved" around a lot but distance wise didn't cover as much as you had suggested. Parlarm is closest to my house, but I'll probably drive elsewhere next time if it's easier to find more water. I'll hang on to your number and will definitely give you a call next time I head out there. It probably won't be anytime soon with all this rain we've been getting. Thank you.

You can run fairly confidently in the boat lanes. I've only hit something once when I was positive I was in the lane. Idle speed only outside the lanes or if you can't see the next set of markers. Just be extra careful, stuff happens fast at 35mph. I keep my finger wrapped around the kill switch cord.
I'm new to lake Conway as well, only fished it maybe 5 times.

Be careful running the trails at 35 mph. Keep in mind that the lake is at normal pool right now, so you are correct for the most part. The problem is when it starts to drop during the hot months due to lack of rain, stumps will start to pop up in the boat trails. Even at normal pool, there are more than a few stumps in the trails, you just havent found them yet. The biggest problem is that some of the trails are poorly marked, and they turn without warning. I wouldnt recommend running faster than 15 or 20 until you have learned how the trails lay and where the stumps are when the lake is low. Get in the habit of dodging them even if the water is too high for them to be a problem. You never know when they will start being a problem until it is to late. Just my two cents.
