    Default Black Bayou

Got to spend Memorial Day with one of our current Air Force members and took him out bream fishing. Had a great time with my friend, and managed to find about 25 or so. Most of them were chinqs and bigger than any I've caught in the past, though I've seen pictures of them that large. Big ones ran about 10 1/4 inches. Really enjoyed the day. Caught them with worms in 4-5 feet of water.

Here are the ones I kept, and the rest I'd given to my friend.

Thought I'd put this one, because it helps show their size pretty well on the table.

Good catch. I thought I saw where a child drowned over there this weekend, sad thing to hear...

Jimmy, that was at Cypress Black Bayou park. Completely different lake, and yes, very sad. Little 7 yr old boy.

I was on Black Bayou myself for the weekend. The fishing was slow to me also but I did wind up with a mess of big bream also. Plus I had a great time.

Way to go Scott. Black Bayou does have some big bream and looks like you found some. Are the weeds any problem right now???

Scott those are some nice fat ones, real footballs. Good going for taking a serviceman out.

Wally, no problem at all with weeds where we were. We just pulled off to the right of the channel a little ways from the launch and moved around the trees. A few had eggs that were ready to drop. some had eggs that were just starting to develop. sure were fun to pull in! Wish I'd been using an ultralight...would have felt like whales! lol I'll definitely go back and try for more another time. Maybe they'll bite faster.

There were two other boats with us but they were all bass fishing. Between the 3 guys, there was only 1 crappie caught and no bass. So I felt like we did pretty well with what we caught.

Gene, the guy and his family are good friends of ours, and he works hard out there at Barksdale. Wish he could go out with me more often. Problem I have is more people want to go fishing, than I have time to take out. I was glad to get him out on the water though. Like me, these were the biggest bream he's ever caught and he had a great time. Just a plus I could do it on a holiday of recognition for our service folk.

I took my 12 year old son and his buddy a couple weeks ago. We caught 2 bream and 2 crappie but got into a mess of those trash fish the regulars call Jack Fish. They look like some type of carp. We caught maybe 20 or so of them. The kids liked the action though.
