    I have been drift fishing on the lake back home and looked over at small cypress trees only to see wasp nest in the tree. Couldn't get away fast enough. I knew not to bang into ththe tree. I am not a bee or wasp friendly person.

    Maybe they are carpenter bees, attracted to the exposed wood. If so they won't bother you. I've got carpenter bees that hang around my house and I love them because they actively chase off the wasps.
