I only had one. But from the time I was 12 he let me chauffeur him, towing the boat, in his old AMC Gremlin station wagon. And, once we launched, I got to do all the boat driving too!
Yep , can remember making homemade corks from corn cobs and feathers . Never bought bait because the ditches had tons of crayfish and had his own worm beds to go with 30 or so catauba trees . He always wore one of the straw hats with a green visor and to this day anybody wearing one on the water draws my attention quick .
Yep, only had one myself. Started me fishing when I was 4 and he retired. We learned together. Sained minnows and craw fish from the creeks, dug worms, never had a boat parked on the dirt roads and walked through the woods to creeks and farm ponds. Fought the ticks and skeeters. Learned a lot of life's lessons sitting on one of those little folding camp stools. Got my bible lessons and how to treat people and live life lessons right there on the creek bank. No better way to learn. Sure would give anything for just one more day with him.

My father would takes us out and line up with this tree and that water tower and point in the distance and then take his cane pole and stick it down till he found the drop . He always found his spot . Always told me to mark an x on the side of the boat so we could find it next time . My momma would fish with the best of them too . All day . Yes we miss those days .
CATCH THEM ALL.
With a little lump in my throat, I give a big AMEN to all the above. I was very blessed also.
