Default A Good Morning on Lake Martin

Decided to do a little fly fishing for bass this AM on Lake Martin. Caught and released two nice ones and lost another on a really pretty jump. That doesn't bother me a bit when they do that! Anyway, I also caught this chunk, and while it isn't a sac, it was fillet-able!
The water is low and clear, and the grass and floating vegetation is getting pretty thick in places, so I'd imagine I'd better get all the fishing I want to do there pretty quick.
If you fish in the woods, keep an eye out for the alligators. They seem to have gotten a little more aggressive lately!

Hey Pete, nice post. Nothing wrong with that at all. You sure do it right, enjoying yourself. In my hectic life, I figure the real magic of fishing is not in the "what" or the "how" or "how many," but in the "why." Daydreaming, breathing, and spending time without walls. Thanks for posting.

Good to hear a report from ya Pete. I've been itching to pull my whipping stick out and go after some gills but haven't found the time. Last week it was pulling and canning beets and now it's snap beans. Picked 40 pounds yesterday and canned them today. More to do in the garden this week. Fishing time will come sooner or later.

I was at Palmetto today and notice the gators are doing their crazy mating stuff. They are putting their heads up out of the water at about a 45 degree and making that loud grunt/holler or whatever you call it. Real noisy from far away. They are tiny compared to that Lake St. Martin gang.

That fish in your picture looks like a baby grouper.
