My original post was in reference to some friends at work that sought me out for fishing trips when I had a boat and was on fish , only to drop the ball in return .
You guys on CDC have been great , and I appreciate your advice and sharing a seat in the boat .

Funny you say that I know a guy that when I asked man you like to fish so much why don't you get a boat he said why all my friends have one. Last time I called him to go fishing
I actually had a guy at work ask me when I was going to buy another boat to take him fishing . I asked him the same question you did and got a similar reply . Got another guy on a hunting lease , took him fishing and showed him some good spots . I don't expect anything in return , but It is nice to get an invite once in a while as a gesture of appreciation .
I have always been unselfish when it comes to sharing a hunting or fishing spot and know many of you guys are the same way . Just an observation I have made over the years .
It could apply to many situations besides fishing , when someone wants something .
There's always been givers and takers. Unfortunately, the takers make it bad for everyone.

I think we all experience that from time to time.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
Yeah it sucks without a boat. I never had a boat until recently and have been trying for 10 weeks to get motor for it. I know several people with boats but trying to get them to go fishing can be a challenge. Seems they are always going when I can't but can't when I want too.
Same goes for drinking buddys.I gave up drinking 26 years ago.Been dry since and my (friends) quickly faded into the sunset
I always have to look at my giving as a gift given without anything expected in return.
