All lakes cannot be managed the same....too many variables....it has to be studied on a lake by lake basis. In other words what is good management for one lake may be bad for another.

Never said do exactly what MS does. LA is known for not wanting any restrictions out of fear of not being able to catch fish. The whole purpose is to monitor restrictions just as Sardis did for years and is now unreal. After being bashed by locals for the initial results, nobody is complaining now from it having two back to back enormous years for huge fish. Back to my point, start with a small restriction, 10 inches, but give fishermen a few under the limit to keep to make everyone happy , 5 or so. This is a start.

For example....Sardis has a 11 inch minimum, limit 15 fish.....Granada , Arkabutla, and Enid have a 12 inch minimum, with a limit of 20. Other lakes have 10 inch minimums.....some lakes none with a limit of 30.....so you see different lakes or fisheries need different management depending on lots of different variables that are found through studies on that particular lake. Lake Washington is a great crappie lake, a friend of mine caught one last year that was 3.77 Lbs.

Yeah, I know, that's why I started the topic. I fish the big 4 and Lake Washington every year. Sardis was stunted at 12 inches and went to 11 to thin the size barrier and that's their sweet spot. I receive the MS newsletter and MS State University latest research data every year BC fishing the lakes and seeing what they do work is fascinating. Again my point is just start. Lake Darbonne is heading down the wrong road.

Should have done something about limit on Poverty Point when they opened it. Lowered it to 25, but I know there is a lot of abuse by supposed "fishermen" who are not concerned with conservation, but with bragging about numbers. Sportsmanship has certainly went by the wayside for sure.
