Going tomorrow just wondering how the fishing has been? I'll be the one with the two tone motor...Nat gear and Nissan blue.. It's a long story. LOL

Good luck with the fishing. Been kind of silent from over there. Maybe crappie season is over.

Last time I was there was a month ago. We did pretty good. Water hasnt warmed up enough to make it tough yet. Should be able to catch a few. Good luck.

Went to Hogue about a week ago and we fished from about 3-8. We kept 10, but most were smaller fish; my dad wanted a mess to eat that night though. The fishing was actually very good, but we had to catch about 30 fish to get a 10inch plus fish. I am taking my 7 year old for her first spider rigging trip there this afternoon. If we can duplicate the action of our last trip, she will be hooked. I will post a report tonight or tomorrow of our success.......or failure!

Tried to put in at Hogue about 4 pm yesterday w a sustained 20mph wind out of the S with even higher gusts. Barely got the boat off the trailer and water was splashing over the transom. It was dangerous to try and launch at all; we put the boat right back on the trailer and went to Poinsette. I have never seen the wind and waves like that on Hogue.

We actually did pretty good at Poinsette given we had short time to find fish and high winds to contend with.

I've seen it like that. Hogue gets rough with a south wind. Had to load the boat like that last year. Had to load it quick with waves coming over the back. Also seems like the fishing is better on days like that.

My grandpa and I have fished Hogue a lot the past 5 years, and we always do better on really windy days...but yesterday I had my 6 year old w me and it was looking like the boat was going to sink before I could get it off the trailer and to the dock to pick her up. Kind of scared me.

I know that feeling. Was running noodles last year at night with a friend and my 10 year old. The wind picked up to 20+ out of the north and we were on the south end picking up the noodles. It got bad quick. Had a few waves come over the side running west down the levee. It was a lot better once we turned north and headed into the waves. That night was about the worst I've been in at Hogue.
