Such as what to look for how to fish for them what time of year and about what water depth . I've always been a crappie guy and continue to be but have been interested in catching redear but just can't get any tips from anyone. I'm not asking anyone to give me there spots but just some pointers lol I know how the spot thing is with crappie I have a few myself that would b hard to give up .

The upcoming Full Moon period should have them heading to the banks to spawn, if the water temps get right. They do spawn in deeper water than a Bluegill normally does, but I've caught them from 3ft deep to 10ft deep (Cedar Creek Lake). I normally use a pinch of nightcrawler, just big enough to cover the hook. I've caught them fishing from the bank, using a slip sinker & hook/worm piece or a hook/sinker under a float.... and I've also caught them fishing from a boat, using a jig/worm piece. Just keep the bait on or near the bottom. Most all the Redear I've caught, simply swam off with the bait ... unlike Bluegill, that pick & peck at it.
Soft mud, silt or sand bottoms are good spawning areas. Water temp preferences are between 68-75 degrees.
That's about all I know, as I haven't fished specifically for them, much ... and Cedar Creek Lake is the only place I've really targeted them.
