Method of Fishing Now
I have not been on th water now in over a month and figure the spider rig bite is probably slowing down, How are You guys fishing for crappie right now with post spawn here? CF

That said, I did have the tremendous fortune to meet back up with Corker last week and go fishing. We pushed bobbers and cast jigs and found fish in a variety of depths. Half were shallow and seemed to be in an active spawn pattern, the other half were caught around 10' - 12' and we weren't sure if they were pre or post spawn. We were thinking pre-spawn given the late cold weather. Caught more at Diascund, but better quality at LCR. And we never did find schools of them even when we started catching a few.

I had been killing them on the James before all this brown water moved in. Spider rigging hair jigs with minnows.

Shoot, Farmboy ... I don't think the spider rig bite is EVER over with... least ya can't convince most of my home boys that it is !! Then when it gets hot, they put the jigs/minners poles up and start pushin/pullin cranks
Us jig slingers just have to hunt & peck to scratch out whatever leftovers remain

Wish i could spider rig Year round but all we have are black crappie here CP. When they start sticking to cover, You can spider rig but You will lose Your religion with 8 rods tied in a brushpile! I know in the summer here You are better off casting and tightlining with one or two rods in the hands over brush. I don't get to fish much this time of year and since we are so wet right now, I might try to go this weekend. Don't know what to do with crappie this time of year and still too early here for a good bream bite.CF

Try where I have been going lately; they are on structure at 5 to 12 FOW. the water is pretty clear considering all the rain we've had. Most fish are under 10" but some nice ones too and that's better than no fish.. Watch the sonar and when you see fish, stay on it and tease them because they are a bit slow to bite. B-
