    Default Ky Lake report

Fished the 23rd thru the 25th ( wed. - fri. ) first time on Ky Lake. Wow was I surprised. 3 crappie the first day, none the second and one Friday. Water was 68 on wed and went back to 66 on thurs and Friday..I am no expert, but good grief. Everyone else at Moor's was having similar results. We tried minnows, jigs you name it. Finally Friday night we went out at dark set in 25 feet of water and caught 10 nice ones under lights. I am sure we didn't get good feel for the Lake. April water between 66 and 68 and nothing. I could see if others were catching fish.Watched a guide tell his client , he would take him out but he would just be taking his money. Oh well back to Cumberland Name: crappie pic.jpeg

My theory is the carp has our crappie scared to come out of the brush...

    Any carp in Reelfoot...??

Oh yea the foot is full of them, havent seen many jumping yet but as the water warms and the rentals run wide open they'll start soon enough. Seen alot of big swirls close to my trolling motor when bumping it lately guessing it is the carp being spooked

The fishing was tough for a few days but I got into some good ones today. Had planned to do some gill fishin but the crappies showed up at my gill spot. Got caught in the rain but it was worth it.

I just got back from Kentucky Lake and pretty well had the same results. 4,3,13. I finally decided to try pulling jigs and that is when I caught the 13. We fished corks shallow, spider rigged minnows and then pulled. The fish we caught were in 17 to 13 feet of water. Slow but a bad day on the water is still better than a good day in front of the TV.
