Good to hear bitman! I live in coweta myself and as much as I love fishing the BIG E, billy creek is my go to spot. It's close and usually produces alittle action at least. I've caught as many, if not more, bass outta there than crappie. But the crappie I have caught out of there have been quality. I have only been able to catch crappie on the north side of the low water bridge for some reason but have caught bass on both sides.
If you dont mind me asking, Were you using minnows? And how deep were you fishing?
Minnows sir. Fishing some a foot deep and some 3 feet deep. Need to get you to show us the ropes out there bud.
When you say north side do u mean the creek side or the river side. Im thinking thats the river side which does seem deeper.
Do you catfish there much concrete? I threw a big rod out with a nice sized blue gill on it. When i reeled it back in blue gill was gone. Gives me hope. Lol

Haha I'm not so sure I even know the ropes out there! But yes i do think the north side is deeper. I usually put minnows out and and fan cast a roadrunner with a black/chartruese crappie thunder body while waiting for some action from the minnows. (For some reason the bass really like those crappie thunders!)
I myself have not catfished out there but I have seen people catfishing. And it sure looks like it would be a good place to catfish.
My son has caught a few bass out there too. All of them about 8 inches long. Lol. Ill try the road runners too. Good idea
Bitman, I saw a father fishing with his 3 young sons, one wearing a bright yellow top and wondered if it might be you and your boys. I started to holler from the dock there at Crowder park, but decided to just wait and see how you responded to this. Hope it was you and you guys caught a lot of fish.
AMERICANS: Willing to cross a frozen river to kill you, in your sleep, on Christmas, totally not kidding, we've done it.
Stink it wasnt me bud. I was at Billycreek on Saturday with my two sons and one of our friends sons though. It was fun but too slow to keep the young ones fishing. We made it about 4 hours though. Not bad. Hope to make it to Crowder soon with my oldest who will fish all day with me.

Hey bitman, I just thought I'd share some info on a couple pond/pits. They are just south of highway 51, right before you cross the nav canal. You can't miss them. I have always just drove by them not paying much attention but yesterday I stopped and threw a couple jigs out under a cork and sure enough I caught a little crappie. Went back this morning and caught another little one. That was it, just 2. But I now know they are in there.
It's got lots of little spots to fish from the bank, might be worth checking out.
Might note, I stopped on my way back from getting blanked at billy creek. (Well I caught a couple baby bass, but those don't count) that was just my second time out at billy creek this year and I was figuring the crappie would be biting good out there by now. Maybe I wasn't fishing the right depth? Also I didn't have any minnows and that's all I've ever caught them on out there. Maybe it was just an off day? Haha that's what I'll keep telling myself! I know there's quality crappie in there!
Concrete. Those ponds/pits are super good for bass too. I didn't know they had crappie in them but glad to know it. We will have to go try it with minnows too under a cork. It's easy to get hung in those ponds. That is our summer blue gill spot to when catching bait for catfish. They are healthy ponds for sure.
