Default Lil bit scores a thunder chicken

Man it was a glorious day. Lil bit woke me up to go hunting. I have taken her several times in years past but just couldn't seal the deal. We arrived at the woods with daylight already in the air. We stood around the truck and heard a few turkeys across the road on another property. I was thinking that the bird I heard two days ago was off the land I could hunt. I decided to got in the woods and soon heard a gobble. I called and he responded. We made to the playhouse deer stand I built to hunt with the family. We stuck the decoy in the atv trail and the gobbles were getting closer. We got ready and as I would let out some calls to the thunder bird he would gladly respond back. About a hundred yard out we could tell he paced and gobbled. After what seemed like an eternity I made some aggressive cuts and then put the call away. I told little bit that he was coming. I was looking one way and all of a sudden she says there he is dad. We had the gun pointed in the wrong direction so we gingerly moved it in his direction. 25 yards out he put on a show gobbling and strutting but held his ground and she couldn't get a clean shot. I videod a lot if the show but 20 min later he started to ease off. We kept switching who was gonna shoot cause I wanted her to shoot and she wanted the bird to not get away lol. Finally it stepped into an opening and i let her 20g gun bark. She was out the door like she was bit by a hornet lol. We both were glad to get that turkey. I was taking pictures of her and the turkey when another one gobbled at us.

We both looks at each other and she asks dad what do we do with this turkey. I quickly threw it in the deer stand and off we went towards it. As we got 150 yards closer I could here other hens calling. I gave a kee kee yelp and he thundered back at me. She stuck the decoy in the ground as I made us a spot against a tree. The gobbles got closer and closer. We kept spinning around the free like a squirrel chasing a nut falling. Finally lil bit said "I see it dad". I said a quick prayer that she shoot straight and he came strutting into us. Gobbbled and drummed and I told her to take it when she could. Poor lil bit was shaking so bad it felt like an earth quake sitting between my legs. The gun barked and I hooted and hollered as she took off at the flopping bird. I was right on her tail as we got to the bird. I hugged her so big and we had a bunch of high fives. Lil bits bird is one of the biggest I have ever seen. It has has 4 beards and 1 inch spurs. A true trophy and a memory I will carry forever. I am truly blessed to have a great family and good friends. Remember what Jesus has done for us and what he can do for you. Forgive and forget, don't hold grudges, enjoy your family. The outdoors are here to be enjoyed by all. Happy Easter weekend to all. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1397921081.489704.jpg
