Nice !
Not only is it an impressive catch, its got to be one of the rarest catches from Gville I have seen in a long time. I do not see a single Black Crappie, male or female in the bunch, reminds me of a mid 1960s catch!!Looks like the majority of them are Males based on the bedding black color around the heads. Looks like the females may have dropped most of their eggs this week and the males are left to guard the hatch.
Real good day!
Are those all white crappie?
dark colored but the verticle lines. maybe hybrids?
Congrats on an awesome catch!!! Love to see those Whites. What's intersting about your comment that the girls have spawned is that the water temp seems a little cool for the whites yet. The blacks go first and I am still finding them with eggs and getting ready to go. Very interesting.
Croppie LIKED above post
Well, today was a complete 180. Couldn't buy a crappie at the same spot I caught yesterday, but I did get another 5lb bass. Whereas I could find multiple schools of baitfish yeaterday, I couldn't find anything today until about noon. We started to try some new spots I had noted on a map, and picked up a couple here and there, but nothing to speak of, then just happened to be cruising through an area where there's a lot of gravel bottom and mussel beds and started to get a few more. Then the wind picked up and I finally found a school of baitfish about 100 yds from shore in about 12-14 ft of water. For about an hour we caught crappie, bass, and catfish. Lost 4 baits to something big that kept getting hooked, then flat out snapped the line before I could get the rod out of the holder. Finally, told my daughter I was gonna get on the rod quicker next time and for her to reel everything else in. 10 minutes later hooked into it and got the rod before he snapped off. He swam for about 200 yards, pulling drag the entire time (using 4 lb line, mind you). Finally got to a spot where he quit swimming so much and I put the Terrova on SpotLock and played him for about 20 minutes until I finally got a glimpse of him. Not to my surprise, it was just as I suspected...........huge drum. Finally wore him out and netted him........25 lbs. Gonna grind him up and put him in the ground with tomato plants on top of him....only thing they're good for. Anyways, did catch a couple blacks today and more females this time that had not spawned out yet. Was also weird today that we had several crappie come off as soon as we got them to the surface, and many of the baits were bit in half. I've never lost so many crappie in a single day in my life. Go figure. Same lures/combos as yesterday.......pretty much everything worked.

I went to the islands near Alred Marina yesterday and caught 8 black crappie and 1 channel cat all from the same treetop in 4 feet of water. The females still had eggs. BG Electric Chicken and a chartreuse glitter were what they bit best. Water temp was 63.
Today I went to Town Creek above the powerline and caught 7 black crappie, 2 channel cat and a stripe about a foot long. I lost 4 real nice crappie right at the boat. All but 2 of todays fish were caught on minnows fishing 7 feet deep in 12 feet of water with treetops.Water temp was 59.
One thing I've noticed in the last 3 weeks is the fish fight like crazy. I've never had crappie fight like most of these did.
We have to mights of 35 degree weather coming this week. Dang fish can't figure out what to do but I'm hoping to get on 'em next weekend.
nice post sounds like a fun day except for carp catchers
In humble reverance to the GREAT I AM! THAT I AM!
