Iowans ........Where are you?
It's that time of the year again. The fish will soon be on a biting Bonanza!! Just wondering if i am alone here. ~

Been out 5 or 6 times and have caught quite a few crappies already, anywhere from 6 to 13 inches.

Going Sunday. Will report back. This will be on public water.

Two thrown back this weekend. They need to get a bit bigger.
It felt good to get out there and soak up the sun. It's snowing off and on right now.

Been fishing for over a month. Fish have been on FIRE! My hand tied 1/64 hackle jigs under a micro little bobber.

Hit a buddies pond yesterday. Started out fishing for bass & caught four on a jerk bait, nothing too big. Fished for crappies for an hour or so & caught 35, nothing over 9 1/2. Big ones weren't hitting at the time I was there. They were even hitting a free falling jig I was throwing to get a little deeper for the big ones. I caught the biggest bass on the panfish assassin also. Kevin22 is right, they are biting. I even caught 14 crappies 9 to 11 inches at West Lake while my friends Dad was testing his boat to make sure everything was working right. Still have to wade through a lot of small ones though.

Pezgirl,
I'm from Coon Rapids in Carroll county, and my wife and daughters have been fishing Anita, Nodaway, Greenfield, and Littlefield since the end of March. The crappies are post-spawn in these lakes at this point, but really nice gills can now be found at all of these lakes spawning. In my experience, the keepers will run 7.5-10" at these lakes depending on the day and location.
Good luck!
