Default How I disabled the Rabbit button on Ipilot remote

Well kinda. I have 2 separate remotes (new style) which I somewhat disabled on the remote. I made the button much harder to push, not totally disabled.

I accomplished this by removing the cover, then filling the rabbit button contact area (inside) with RTV silicone. The RTV is level with the button contact point inside the rabbit button depression. The RTV will harden somewhat and make the button less responsive to the touch. You have to push harder than normal than the regular buttons to "rabbit". The rabbit button has to be intentionally pushed harder to "rabbit".

If you ever decide to remove the RTV and return the button to normal, you can use Loctite RTV remover which will soften the RTV and you can lift the applied RTV from the rubber pad.

This is a safety issue for me. Works fine.

Nice to know Tom. So...did you decided this before or after you threw yourself in the drink one to many times?

I love the rabbit button....I only use it when my partner is pouring coffee from his thermos
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Happened in 2004. First experience was the older handheld that was all black. Wonder the boat didn't run over me.

So you saying changing to mode 2 doesn't do it? I could be reading it wrong. That happens a lot these days.

No. What I am saying is I don't trust myself with buttons. Mode or no mode.

I'd be tempted to try that myself.

I don't see how to do such a thing with iP version 1. How do you make the change and how does the control work when it's in mode 2 vs. normal? Where is this discussed in the Owner's Manual?
