Default Sunday trip, saturday youth day for turkey

Dad and i got a chance to hit one of the suffolk lakes sunday. It was a well deserved trip because of work i have not fished as much as i normally due this time of year. I would have liked to fished on Saturday but had made some promises to 2 young hunters to carry them turkey hunting and i really enjoy getting todays youth involved into the outdoors and showing them how to hunt or fish the right way.We ended up Saturday with a lot of sightings of good gobblers. Both kids that i took both got shots. One killed a nice gobbler and the other shot a big gobbler 11" plus beard but it got away from him. All i could do was watch as that big bird flopped away. I told the young boy don't worry about it we would get another one. I wish he would have gotten him because he deserved him. He let a nice gobbler go by to shoot at the big one.Well anyway back to sunday and the fishing. We ended up with 30 give or take a few and 13 citations. Mostly yellow perch but did have a couple 1lb 8oz crappie. Fish where real shallow 2 to 6 FOW and hitting jigs tipped with minnows.Name: prince4513 005.jpg

I don't hunt, but it just warms my heart to see some one teaching our youth the ways of the outdoors. I spent a lot of time with the boy scouts, but I have had to back down due to work. I will get back as its in the blood. Nice fish also not playing the fishing down.
