I was helping a guy near me today with the same issue (no GPS connected) on an older HB Combo unit...
We got the unit into Forced Simulator and exported the waypoint library to a SD Card before he decided what to do with unit...(trash it or spend $$ on an old unit)...
Then powered the unit off and powered the unit on...the GPS then showed connected...
I have never seen this before...where exporting waypoints makes a unit start seeing the GPS antenna...
It's the Gremlins I tell ya...

Well it worked the first time I turned it on but hasn't worked since! Not too happy with this unit so far. Calling HB back tomorrow and hopefully they will send me a new unit or I'm taking it back to Bass pro to get money back.

It keeps saying GPS unconnected and speed sensor unconnected on the accessory screen.
