Larry and I fished the upper end of Rooty Creek and the first big cove above the trestle in Little River Wednesday.
The water temps ranged from 57-66 degrees, the wind pushed the boat sideways a lot of the time, there was a lot of floating trash and pollen, and the water was so muddy the boat left ruts.
We pulled jigs in water that ranged from 2-15 feet in both places tried every combination of shapes, sizes, and colors we could think of. In desperation, we even pulled jigs under floats in 2-4 feet of water just in case they were on the banks.
We got to Rooty about 7:30 am, fished until about 1:30 pm, then went to Little River fished there until around 8:00 pm.
Weended up with nine crappie between 6 and 13 oz., four smaller ones, and fivewhite bass. The eggs in the crappie we caught were light colored withvery little veins and didn’t look like they were ready to go on the bed.
We had a tough day, fished hard, and came home sun burned and worn out.
