    Default Fishing Caddo Lake

I fish Caddo lake and I am kinda new to the Crappie fishing. Im more of a Bass fisherman, but I am wanting some tips on finding this delicious fish and catching a mess of them. Any tips on finding them (fish finder, etc.) and what bait to use? Like a jig or what? Your help is appreciated!

Welcome.I don't know about Caddo Lake but I do know you will need more patience for white perch. When I started white perch fishing I carried my bass poles so I could catch some bass to eat. Get some jigs, put faith in them. Learn your lake, watch others. If there are grass beds in Caddo try to catch some grass shrimp. Tip your jigs with them or use them under a cork on a no. 4 gold hook. Good luck

Welcome to the forum. We won't hold it against you for being a bass fisherman as we have many converts. I can't tell you anything about Caddo but in general fishing with shiners are a good place to start but also give crappie jigs a try. Just watch what others are using and where they are fishing and try to duplicate. Make small talk at the landing letting them know that you are a novice seeking advice and you will usually get some.
    Good luck.

try scattered trees in 3-6' of water with minnows or jigs. Texas side is best. Cypress bayou is great in fall/winter with minnows and jigs. Minnows are always reliable on crappie. The water temp. on Caddo is still in the very low 60's but should warm next week. Cloudy days are best.
