I fish Florida every year and catch my share of fish. This past year we boated 1281 fish and kept less than 40 to eat, the rest is still there to catch again. I like to eat the 10" to 12" fish.

It's biblical to practice good stewardship. When blessed with a harvest this season prepare and store some seed for the next seasons to come. I am teaching many youth how to enjoy these great resources and want them to be here for many years to come. I believe in leaving things better when I leave than they were when I arrived or used them.
Since I've joined Crappie.com, the number of fishermen practicing catch and release to some degree seems to be growing. We all love the taste of crappie....no denying it, but it is very reassuring to know there are many thoughtful and responsible people are out there taking care of our fisheries. Thanks for this discussion....I really enjoy it!
"If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading."
The 10" then 11" was for those who want to do 10" and then increase to 11" to help the fishery.
10" would mean 10" and stay there. I should have added statewide, but I thought that it would come up in the discussion.
12" would be a goal for select lakes.
I am sure that there will a lot of opinions, the readers are increasing, but of course on a small percentage post.

Thanks guys for you input, that is what Crappie.com is all about. Yes, many people are starting to impose a 11 or 12" on their catches. I personally like to have a 12" filet that equals 2 10". Just my preference.
I think I have come across something that will help all of us protect and increase the crappie fishery with not cost and very little effort. Need to discuss with the powers to be and get their opinion.

I thank The Lord every day for the fish he produces and allows me to catch. Though it is our responsibility to manage the blessings God provides.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground."
Lake Talquin is a great resource and it is our job to keep it that way. Due to the added fishing pressure we are trying to decide what is best for this body of water. We mean no harm to anyone, but are trying to get definitive research to see what everyone's opinion is. You have given yours in favor of no limit at all and it is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to explain your reasoning!
