You Should BeAble To Just Swap The Control Head No Need For Buying A Whole New Motor

OK boyz and gulls, is time for me to upgrade my TM. I currently have an older AP55 with auto pilot and the auto pilot has always been an auto POS. I need to know EXACTLY what to shop for. The 55lb thrust seems to be just fine for most areas I fish since I tend to stay away from the white caps.
Do I need a new (or used) TM or will the I-pilot work with what I already have?
A Terrova, PDV2?
An I-pilot setup? https://www.basspro.com/Minn-Kota-iP...duct/10215401/
Or, can I get the whole shebang together and save a few $$$?
Someone in the know chime in and help me change my ignorance into a crappy hamper.
Tom?

I think I misnamed the TM I have, I believe it's a PD55ap, basically, electric steer with an auto pilot that's always wigged out and a foot control.

The I Pilot head will go right on your motor. Bad part is if you use your foot pedal any at all and like that function bad news. On the PD motors when adding I Pilot you lose foot pedal. On the terrova you have both. If I was buying new I would definatley get the terrova over the PD. Just the difference in how easy the Terrova is to launch and foot pedal is worth it to me.

This has to be a power drive V2 unit for Ipilot to work with it. This means newer than 2007. I would recommend getting a newer combo if motor is older than 5 years. Plus, the Terrova style is much better. For best results go 24 volt when using the Ipilot or Ilink features. These gps motors have a lot of things using off the batteries at one time and require a lot of amperage draw. Especially, if you plan to use the anchor mode go 24 volt. I used a 55 pd 12 volt for 7 years long lining for crappie and it was great. I have since changed to an 80 pound 24 volt and the anchor feature is much better.
