Sorry for your loss yes they (ours) do really become a true part of family. Went thru your experience last year with my buddy, kinda like loosing a part of your body & replacing it with a big empty hole.

I've had 2. Hang in there.
A few months ago my wife got a call about a dog that was dumped south of town . He was about 25 lbs under weight and scared of everything . We took him to the vet to see if he had a chip or some thing to tell us who the owners might be . No one ever claimed him and the vet asked us if we could keep him and they would try to find him a home . The funny thing about it he is a Golden Retriever as was Midas . We had no thoughts of keeping him but as the weeks went by Midas and him got along so well and we got attached to him We decided to keep him all this before we knew how sick Midas was . My wife got him all his shots and had him fixed .My Grandkids named him Archie . Why I don't know but it seemed to fit him . After Midas passed he seemed to change . Almost like he knew Midas was gone. I think he was in morning as was us . In the last couple of days he has come back around and is wanting to play . As a matter of fact he has got real clingy . He is no Midas but I hope to some day take him to the lake with me . Funny how things work out for the best and he ( Archie) sure has helped us since Midas left us .

    See ay Kevin ><)))*>

So sorry for your loss. I have a blk lab that will be 12 yrs old next month that doesn't miss too many trips with me in the boat. I know that my turn in feeling that sadness is soon around the bend. You have my deepest sympathies.
