    Default PVC Crappie Beds

I am looking at the various PVC Crappie beds people use. Some are simply lengths of pipe stuck in a bucket with concrete. Some are elaborate "trees" with a trunk and limbs at various angels. Some look like satellites etc. I was planning to do the pipes stuck in a bucket method but wonder if there is any reason to do the more complicated ones. Do the crappie care?

Dennis I have been placing PVC for about 7 years now and for my fishing I have never placed one over 6' tall. All of mine are placed in 20' depths of less close to drops and channel ledges. I place a lot of shorter ones like two foot tall. I pour in gallon milk jugs and keep 24'' pipe cut and ready to go. I spend a little more the way I make mine but I can have them in the boat, glue the arms in and drop them without drawing attention. I have places where I have 5 or 6 close together like a stump field and I have them from deep to shallow so the fish can use them as they work to shallow water. Here are some pics of what I use, all sizes will hold fish so the big ones work too.
It doesn't matter if they fall over as they will still work.

ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT !!! and not too many people do !!! that's what makes them good to place people go right on by them !!!

Those look like a good design and a whole lot less complicated than many I have seen. This will be my project on Lake Wateree this summer.
