Default First jigs in 30 years

I ran across my mom's old vise and decided to try some. Haven't tyed in 30 years but now I remember why I kept everything. I ordered a few new things and this is what came out. Trying for Sardis and Grenada colors.

Looks good! Only question for me would be were you tying flies before? I ask because of how far you took your chenille to the bend and most of us stop right about at the barb or even he hook point for jigs. However either will work as long as you have plenty space between the hook point and the chenille. Just my 2 cents.

also you may want to try Sickle hooks!

Skip,, ya most of what I tied before were fly's for dad when he trout fished. I was looking at the jigs and I thought they looked like they had a lot of body. I looked at some commercial jigs and saw this. A new learning curve and a FUN one. Got some sickles today and am going to try them. Thanks for the encouragement. That is what I like most about this board. Bo

Good for you, believe you will like the Sickle hooks as they come sharp and stay that way. They don at times have some QC problems, but for the money they are really great!
Your tying still looks really good! I saw the links to fly tying as I also do some of that for kicks and most fly patterns do go farther back than on a jig. Your gonna do well with this!

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit. I throw out more Matzuo sickles when pouring than all other hooks combine. I had a batch of #1/0s that 50% didn't fit a mold of mine because the shank to the eye was too long. I just cycled through them because they will fit other molds but what a pain. They are sticky sharp tho.
