Cast it up in a tree. Get it snagged real good, then pull several times. If you're high enough in the tree, you'll have too much line out to break and you'll get a good stretch. A nice thin limb to give a lot of sway will help. Eventually, your fishing partner will want to change spots. Hold on to your pole as you motor away and she should break off. Hopefully not right by the reel.

Should be straight as a West Kansas highway after that.

    You're welcome.

Keep in mind if the lure you're using rotates when you jerk it or reel in quick, it will be adding twists to the line. A lot of the jigs need to be hooked so they don't rotate when reeled in. I usually toss the lure out and reel quick to see if it rotates.

Glad it worked out for you Cliff. That is the way my grandfather always taught us grand kids to do it. It works for all reels including closed face and bait casters. Some need it coming off clockwise and others counter clockwise. So just give it a few reels and see if it twist or not. Flip it over if it does.

If reel turns clockwise make sure line comes of spool clockwise. If reel turns anti clockwise then come off spool anti clockwise. Works for me. If having a problem with a certain reel when in the boat and moving let line out with nothing tied on drive or a bit then reel back on.

The first thing you do is tell Keeferfish to "Hold my beer and watch this". Then you light a small stick of dynomite and hand it to Joedog and say, "You gonna fish or what!!!!" Works everytime!!!
I believe in catch and release.....right into the grease!!!!!
